Venezuelan VP: Statutory decrees are attacked because they are good

Venezuelan Executive Vice-President Ramón Carrizalez said that the statutory laws enacted by President Hugo Chávez last week under the Enabling Law are aimed primarily at promoting national development.
Carrizalez said that the best proof that the statutory laws are favorable for the people is the fact that they have been under fierce attack. 'It is clear that the laws are beneficial, and the best indicator is the hostility against them. One of the attacks is that they were not drafted by the law firms dependent of the big media outlets, of the large financial conglomerates. The laws were not drafted by Fedecámaras (the Venezuelan Federation of Trade and Industry Chambers). They were drafted taking into account people's wellbeing.'
